Message from
the
President:
University
Cheer Air
Force is one
of the
nations
largest
competitive
cheerleading
program,
with over
450
competitive
team members
and 16
teams. Air Force is
successful,
but our
focus is not
on winning.
We focus on
what our
cheerleaders
learn from
competing.
Our teams
are
successful
even when
they lose.
Although our
losses are
few we learn
from each
mistake and
gain
knowledge
from every
failure.
The mission
of every
staff member
and every
parent can
be summed up
with this
one
question:
“What will
our
cheerleaders
have gained
from our
program 10
years into
their
future?” We
hope the
answer is
confidence,
teamwork,
discipline,
compromise,
work ethics,
high moral
standards,
and the
ability to
overcome
obstacles.
That purpose
is behind
every
decision we
make from
every coach
in the
facility.
After
reviewing
our program
you will
find that
our staff is
committed
and
passionate
about
University
Cheer. They
simply care
about their
students and
make every
effort to
fulfill the
answer to
that one
question.
We are not
perfect. We
do make
mistakes,
but our
heart is in
this sport
for the
right
reasons. We
think that
once you
take a
closer look
at “Air
Force” you
will
certainly
agree.

Why
University
Cheer?
AIR
FORCE – FOR
LIFE!
University
Cheer Air
Force is
more than a
cheerleading
program.
Our staff is
dedicated to
making a
life long
positive
impact on
all of our
athletes.
Air Force is

We strive to
teach all of
our athletes
how to be
“Winners”.
Winners take
chances.
Like
everyone
else, they
fear
failing.
Winners
don’t give
up. When
life gets
rough, they
hang in
until the
going gets
better.
Winners are
flexible.
They realize
there is
more than
one way and
are willing
to try
others.
Winners know
they are not
perfect.
They respect
their
weaknesses
while making
the most of
their
strengths.
Winners
fall, but
they don’t
stay down.
They
stubbornly
refuse to
let a fall
keep them
from
climbing…
Winners
don’t blame
fate for
their
failures nor
luck for
their
success.
Winners
accept
responsibility
for their
lives.
Winners are
positive
thinkers who
see good in
all things.
From the
ordinary,
they make
the
extraordinary.
Winners
believe in
the path
they have
chosen even
when it’s
hard, even
when others
can’t see
where they
are going.
Winners are
patient.
They know a
goal is only
as worthy as
the effort
that’s
required to
achieve it.
Winners are
people like
you. They
make this
world a
better place
to be.
General
Coaching
Philosophy
“Honesty is
Our Policy”
We believe
in openly
sharing both
strengths
and
weaknesses
with our
students.
Very few
cheerleaders
are strong
in all
areas. Our
members know
what they
offer a team
and their
skills that
need work.
“Discipline
Makes the
Athlete”
UC members
are held
accountable
for their
mistakes and
individual
actions when
the safety
of others is
at risk.
Most members
quickly
learn this
and develop
strong work
ethics.
They also
learn to
respect
their
teammates as
well as the
staff. Self
discipline
is the first
step in
creating a
strong
athlete.
“Individual
Work =
Success”
Success in
any
performance
is
determined
by each
individual’s
work
ethics.
Members must
practice
both in and
out of the
gym to
guarantee
that their
goals will
be reached.
“Support
Makes the
Program”
Our students
must show
their
support for
the entire
program. It
makes them
part of our
family and
not just
part of one
team.
Strength and
confidence
will grow in
this type of
environment.
We also
encourage
our athletes
to support
other
programs
that
demonstrate
athleticism.
We teach our
students to
appreciate
and respect
talent even
if it’s not
within our
own
program.
“Students
Before
Parents”
University
Cheer Air
Force is
like no
other
business.
Our
customers
are
definitely
the parents,
but our
focus is on
their
children.
Sometimes
parents
expect us to
do what they
want because
they write
the checks.
We value our
customers,
but we base
our
decisions
solely on
the needs of
the team.
Customers
hire us
because we
know what is
best for the
team and
their child.
“Stand out
above the
crowd”
Our main
goal when
choreographing
routines is
to be
different.
Any coach
can review
tapes of
other teams
and steal
material.
We strive to
create new
themes and
ideas.
“Favoritism
& Politics
has No Place
in UC”
We pride
ourselves on
not
listening to
the petty
cheerleading
gossip. Our
guarantee to
our
customers is
that we will
not be a
part of
“cheerleading
parent
gossip”.
“A Star is
Never Born”
We decided
long ago
that
everyone
will be
treated
equal. All
individuals
will offer
something to
their team.
Some may be
the best
tumblers
while others
may be
outstanding
leaders.
Everything
that is
offered
makes up the
team. Yes,
there are
students in
our facility
that can do
it all. It
is our
philosophy
to continue
to coach
those
members with
the same
intensity as
everyone
else. They
are not
treated
special in
any way. It
is unhealthy
for them to
feel like
they are the
focal point
of the teams
success. We
push those
all around
athletes,
expecting
more of them
given their
talent
ability.
“No One
Trains For 2nd”
Why train
for 2nd
place?
Competitive
cheerleading
means
training in
a
competitive
manner. We
spend every
minute of
every
practice
coaching
with 1st
place in
mind. If
our team
performs a
routine to
the best of
their
ability then
our goal has
been
achieved.
Usually,
“hitting”
the routine
brings a 1st
place title,
but if we
“hit” and
don’t win
because
another team
has more
talent, then
we’ve still
achieved our
goals.
Winning
isn’t
everything,
but we don’t
train to
lose.
“You Gotta
Have the
Skills -
Cause Your
Name Means
Nothin’”
Air Force
has built a
strong
reputation
in the
cheerleading
industry.
We refuse to
rely on our
“name” as a
reason for
hitting a
routine. We
teach our
athletes to
rely on
their
strengths,
their work
ethics, and
their
individual
skills to
bring the
team
success.
